green curry, aquarium diving and big flappy things redux
In December 2003 after Wakatobi, I went to Thailand for my annual pilgrimage to the Similan and Surin Islands. When I am there I dive with Scubacat on their boat called the Scuba Adventure. On the boat it is with pleasure that I dive again with PJ (PJ Widestrand). He is the main man on the boat and is a great diver, dive guide and underwater videographer to boot.

I did 2 back-to-back trips on the Adventure, as I usually do, that way I increase my chances of big animal encounters. Once again this proved true, but more will come in the trip report towards end of January 2004.

All photos were taken with my current set-up: Olympus C5050, Inon D180, Inon UWL 100, Ikelite Housing. All my underwater shots are taken in RAW format and I use manual exposure (kind of a guessing game for now) and sometimes bracket using the strobe. Except when noted, all I do to them is white balance exposure tuning in the RAW converter, and then contrast adjustments in Photoshop (typically Auto-contrast then Fade to a certain percentage).

2 manta and 2 jellyfish photos in the New Years' trip gallery had significant Unsharp Mask applied after cutting out the main subject, and some other PS stuff to make them look acceptable (to me).

So here goes:
